Troops Neutralise Terrorists in Plateau Operations

Troops under Operation Enduring Peace, working with local vigilante groups, have killed several suspected terrorists during coordinated clearance operations in Plateau State, military authorities said.

The actions were carried out as part of Operation Wutan Daji, targeting armed groups operating around Daba and Seri villages in Wase and Kanam Local Government Areas (LGAs).

According to the military, troops deployed along the Dutsen Zaki–Odare Forest corridor intercepted a large group of armed men riding motorcycles at about 8:30 am on April 9.

The forces engaged the group after identifying it as a known criminal route, killing 10 of the attackers, while others escaped into surrounding forests.

In a related operation, soldiers responded to reports of an attack on commuters along the Razat–Kafi Abu road.

The suspects reportedly withdrew into nearby communities, prompting a pursuit and cordon-and-search operations across Suma Suga and Takwok villages, as well as adjoining mountainous terrain.

During the operations, troops recovered three AK-47 rifles, three magazines, eight rounds of 7.62mm ammunition, two motorcycles and five 25-litre jerrycans of petrol believed to have been intended for logistics.

A national identity card and a photograph suspected to belong to members of the armed group were also seized.

Military said the operations had disrupted and weakened the activities of armed groups in the area.

It stressed that Troops remain on high alert, with continued efforts under way to track down fleeing suspects and stabilise identified flashpoints across the state.
