The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has firmly objected to reports suggesting it copied or reposted a message from a political aide.
In a statement on Sunday, the Commission clarified that its recent press release was authored independently and not sourced from any third party.
INEC stressed that any circulation of its statement outside official channels was done without its coordination.
It described a publication by Peoples Gazette titled "Nigerians react as INEC reposts Tinubu aide’s message" as "fake, misleading, and a misrepresentation of facts."
According to the Commission, its repost was intended solely to amplify accurate information already released by INEC and should not be misconstrued as alignment with any individual or political office holder.
Restating its neutrality, INEC said that it remains strictly non-partisan and urged the public to disregard misleading interpretations of its actions.
