BREAKING: Kebbi Assembly Speaker Zuru Dies in Egypt


The Speaker of the Kebbi State House of Assembly, Muhammad Usman Zuru, has died.

Zuru passed away on Monday night at a hospital in Egypt, where he had been receiving treatment for an undisclosed illness, according to sources close to the Kebbi State Government.

Until his death, Zuru represented the Zuru Constituency in the state legislature and was regarded as a central figure in the Assembly’s leadership.

Confirming the development, an aide to the governor on Communication and Strategy, Idris Zuru, said the news came as a shock to the administration.

The death of the Speaker, Rt Hon Muhammad Usman Zuru, came to us as a rude shock. It is a painful loss not only to Kebbi State but to the entire nation,” he said.

He added that the state government was still compiling details surrounding the Speaker’s death and would issue a formal statement in due course.

Burial arrangements will be announced by the government in consultation with the family,” he said.
