President Bola Tinubu will travel to the United Kingdom (UK) on Tuesday for a state visit hosted by King Charles III and Queen Camilla, being the first such visit by a Nigerian leader in nearly four decades.
The President, accompanied by the First Lady, Oluremi Tinubu, will be received at Windsor Castle from Wednesday to Thursday.
According to the Presidency, Tinubu is the first Nigerian leader to be formally hosted by a British monarch at the royal residence.
The visit, described as historic, comes 37 years after Nigeria last received a state invitation to the United Kingdom.
According to reports, the visit is aimed at deepening bilateral ties and expanding cooperation in areas including trade, investment, immigration and cultural exchange.
During the visit, the King and Queen will host the Nigerian delegation at a state banquet and invite the President and his wife to view a special exhibition from the Royal Collection suggesting artefacts linked to Nigeria.
Tinubu is also expected to hold private talks with King Charles and engage with organisations involved in interfaith dialogue at both national and international levels.

The President will also meet British Prime Minister Keir Starmer at 10 Downing Street, where discussions are expected to result in new memoranda of understanding covering trade, investment, defence and cultural cooperation.
A key moment of the visit will be the signing of a £746 million financing agreement between UK Export Finance, the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) and Nigeria’s finance ministry.
The deal is intended to support the refurbishment of the Lagos Port Complex and the Tin Can Island Port Complex, two of the country’s major maritime hubs.
Tinubu will also serve as guest of honour at a Nigerian Modernism exhibition showcasing contemporary Nigerian art and culture, and attend a reception with Nigerian and British business leaders as well as members of the diaspora.
Members of the presidential entourage include Senate President Godswill Akpabio, Attorney General Lateef Fagbemi, Information Minister Idris Mohammed, Finance Minister Wale Edun, Defence Minister Christopher Musa, National Security Adviser Nuhu Ribadu and several other senior officials.
The President is expected to return to Nigeria at the conclusion of the visit.
