JAMB Opens Applications for 2026 UTME, Direct Entry Admissions

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has announced the commencement of the sale of application documents for the 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) and Direct Entry admissions for the 2026/2027 academic session.

The announcement was made in a photostatement signed by the JAMB Registrar, Prof Ishaq Oloyede, and shared on the Board’s official X account on Tuesday night.

According to the statement, applications are open to “suitably qualified candidates” seeking admission into Nigerian tertiary institutions for the 2026/27 academic year.

JAMB said eligibility is primarily age-based, adding that only candidates who will be at least 16 years old by 30 September 2026 are generally eligible to apply, however, provisions have been made for underage candidates under strict conditions.

The Board said candidates below 16 years as of the cut-off date would be required to undergo an intensive evaluation process to qualify for an age waiver.

Such candidates, it added, must score not less than 80 per cent in each of the UTME or A-Level, Post-UTME, Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE), and the exceptional candidate assessment.

It added that the UTME results of underage candidates would only be released after the completion of the entire evaluation process.

On registration timelines, JAMB said UTME registration, including for candidates from foreign countries, will run from Monday, 26 January 2026, to Saturday, 28 February 2026.

E-PIN vending for UTME candidates will begin on Monday, 19 January 2026, and close on Thursday, 26 February 2026, while registration ends on 28 February.

For Direct Entry applicants, the Board announced the sale of application documents and E-PIN vending will commence on Monday, 2 March 2026, and end on Saturday, 25 April 2026.

Direct Entry registration, it added, will only be conducted at JAMB’s state and zonal offices.

JAMB also announced three categories of e-PINS: Direct Entry at N5,700; UTME only without mock at N7,200; and UTME with mock at N8,700.

The Board explained that the fees cover a JAMB application fee of N3,500, reading text at N1,000, CBT centre registration service charge of N700, UTME service charge of N1,500, bank charges of N500, and an optional mock examination fee of N1,500.

On examination dates, JAMB said the 2026 UTME will be held from Thursday, 16 April, to Saturday, 25 April 2026, while the optional Mock-UTME is scheduled for Saturday, 28 March 2026.
