The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has honoured a young talent from Bayelsa State, Keme Precious Numa, for his exceptional performance in the 2024 West African Senior School Certificate (WASSC) examinations.
The student of Ido Comprehensive Secondary School, Egbemo-Angalabiri, Ekeremor Local Government Area, was recognised as the Best Overall Male Candidate in Public Schools across Nigeria.
At the 63rd Annual Meeting of WAEC held in Umuahia, he received a cash prize of Five Hundred Thousand Naira (N500,000) in recognition of his achievement.
Keme, a science student, achieved A1 grades in eight subjects, including English, General Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, and Biology, with a B2 in Agricultural Science.
Bayelsa State Commissioner for Education, Dr Gentle Emelah, was represented at the WAEC/Vatebra Merit Award ceremony by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Mr Simon Peter Okene.
The award ceremony was attended by Keme’s school principal, Mrs Jane Wareyai Emomotimi, his mother, Mrs Timi Numa, and his grandfather, Chief Ebiama Ofonibenhen, among others, celebrating the young scholar’s accomplishment.
