President Bola Tinubu on Thursday administered the oath of office to Dr Bernard Doro and Dr Kingsley Udeh, officially inducting them as ministers and restoring cabinet representation for Plateau and Enugu states.
The ceremony took place at 1:52 pm inside the Council Chamber of the State House, Abuja, just minutes before the Federal Executive Council (FEC) convened its first meeting since July 2025.
Doro, a UK-trained clinical practitioner and public health administrator, was nominated on October 21 to head the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction.
He replaces Prof Nentawe Yilwatda, who left the ministry after being elected National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) on July 31.
Hailing from Kwall in Plateau State, Doro brings more than 20 years of experience in clinical medicine, pharmacy, and IT-driven health strategy, with extensive service in the UK’s National Health Service.
He holds multiple degrees, including in Pharmacy, Law, and Advanced Clinical Practice.
Udeh, the former Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice in Enugu State, replaces Uche Nnaji as Minister of Innovation, Science and Technology.
Nnaji resigned on October 7 amid controversies over his academic records.
Udeh, recently appointed a Senior Advocate of Nigeria, was nominated on November 4 and swiftly confirmed by the Senate.
Following the swearing-in, President Tinubu presided over the FEC meeting.
Addressing the council, Coordinating Minister of the Economy and Minister of Finance, Wale Edun, highlighted Nigeria’s return to the international capital market.
The recent $2.35 billion Eurobond was oversubscribed by 453 per cent, attracting $13 billion in orders.
Edun said the next phase of economic reforms would focus on removing investment barriers, reviewing tariffs, and revising import restrictions to stimulate productivity.
He added that federal balance sheets are being reviewed to optimise asset management for inclusive growth, alongside improvements in fiscal reporting and expenditure frameworks.
President Tinubu welcomed the developments, saying that despite political challenges, Nigeria is strengthening global partnerships, restoring investor confidence, and rebuilding its economy.
He maintained the government’s priority to combat terrorism while delivering a peaceful, inclusive, and prosperous nation.
