It was said that the initiative, set to run from 2025 to 2030, will be piloted in selected schools across Benue, Nasarawa and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

The programme aims to enhance teaching and learning through digital tools, innovation, and practical skill development at the basic education level.

Speaking during the signing ceremony, the Chief Representative of JICA Nigeria Office, Ishigame Keiji, reaffirmed Japan’s commitment to supporting Nigeria's education reforms.

He said the Smart Education Project aligns with Japan’s global goal of fostering inclusive and equitable quality education.

The collaboration is expected to pave the way for broader adoption of technology-driven learning models, with a potential scale-up to other states based on the success of the pilot phase.
