A Nigerian firm, Skyewise Group, has clarified that the luxury car lot recently demolished along the Lekki-Epe Expressway in Lagos belongs solely to the company, not to popular auto influencer, Ola of Lagos.

The clarification follows widespread speculation on social media that the demolished property was owned by Ola of Lagos known for showcasing high-end vehicles online.

Recall that the demolition, carried out last Saturday, drew public outrage after viral videos showed heavy machinery pulling down parts of several car dealerships along the high-profile corridor.

In a statement released on Monday, Skyewise Group’s Chief Executive Officer, Elvis Abuyere, described the incident as "unfortunate and saddening," explaining that it was part of Lagos State Government’s efforts to create access routes for a new waterway development project.

"This unfortunate incident affected several car lots along the Lekki Expressway, starting from Phase 1, where the Skyewise Group office was located," Abuyere said.

He stressed that the demolished property was fully owned by Skyewise Group, adding that only a section had been leased to Ola of Lagos strictly for car hire operations and content creation.

"All necessary building approvals, operational permits, dealership licences, and environmental levies for the property were duly obtained from the Lagos State Government," he added, assuring that documents supporting their claims would soon be released.

Despite the setback, Abuyere revealed the company had commenced plans to rebuild, promising to return with a bigger and better facility.

He thanked Nigerians for their support and that Skyewise Group would "emerge stronger and better in no distant future."
