NDDC Empowers 100 Young Fashion Designers Across Niger Delta

The Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), in collaboration with fashion entrepreneur Greg Daniel, has trained and empowered 100 young fashion designers drawn from various states in the Niger Delta region.

Speaking at the graduation ceremony, NDDC Managing Director, Dr Samuel Ogbuku, said the initiative was designed to equip young people with practical skills that would enhance self-reliance and economic productivity.

Ogbuku explained that the programme aligns with the Commission’s broader mandate of creating sustainable livelihoods for youths through vocational training and enterprise development.

He urged the beneficiaries to remain innovative and confident as they venture into the competitive fashion industry, noting that their creativity could help project the Niger Delta as a hub for talent and craftsmanship.

Dr Ogbuku also charged the new designers to be ambassadors of the NDDC by using their craft to inspire others and contribute to the region’s social and economic growth.

The beneficiaries, who showcased a range of designs at the event, received starter packs and certificates to help them launch their fashion businesses.
