The Ondo State Police Command has arrested a man, Oyewole Adamolekun, for allegedly s£xually abusing his biological daughter over a span of 12 years, culminating in her pregnancy.
According to Police Public Relations Officer, SP Olayinka Ayanlade, the suspect was apprehended at Taye Village, Lafa 2, within the Ajue Axis of Odigbo Local Government Area (LGA) following a report filed by concerned individuals.
The victim, now 15 years old, was immediately taken to a medical facility where an ultrasound confirmed she was 19 weeks and two days pregnant.
"During interrogation, the suspect voluntarily confessed to the crime.
"He is currently in custody, and the case has been transferred to the Command’s Gender Desk for thorough investigation and swift prosecution," he said.
Commissioner of Police, CP Adebowale Lawal, psc+, mnips, condemned the incident saying that the act was "not only criminal but also morally reprehensible."
The police have assured the public that justice will be pursued diligently, and the victim is receiving appropriate medical and psychological support.
