Afrobeats superstar Davido on Sunday inaugurated a female hostel at Clifford University, Ihie, Abia State, naming it after his late mother, Dr Veronica Adeleke.
Round Reports observed that the event coincided with the institution’s 6th Convocation Ceremony.
The singer, who also delivered the commencement speech, encouraged graduates to "lead with purpose and use their talents to impact lives," adding that "true greatness is defined by service, not fame."
On his X page, Davido reflected on the moment, writing, "Standing before the graduating class of Clifford University today giving the commencement speech, I felt something bigger than music. I saw a generation ready to change everything."
Davido described the hostel as a tribute to his mother’s enduring legacy as an educator and philanthropist.
"My mother, Dr. Veronica Adeleke, was a teacher and giver who believed education and compassion could change lives. This building is a continuation of her purpose — turning love into legacy," he said.
The ceremony also featured entrepreneur Cubana Chief Priest, who announced his commitment to sponsor the tuition fees of 50 students at the university.
