Court Orders TikTok Star to Marry Co-Actor in 60 Days

A Magistrate Court sitting in Kano State has ordered the state Hisbah Board to facilitate the marriage between popular TikTok content creator, Ashir Mai Wushirya, and his co-star, Basira Yar Guda, within 60 days.

The directive, issued on Monday by Magistrate Halima Wali of Court 3, followed a case brought against the duo by the Kano State Film and Video Censorship Board over allegations of immorality and indecent conduct.

According to a report by Freedom Radio, the pair were arrested and arraigned after staging a series of playful wedding skits on social media, which authorities described as misleading and inappropriate.

During the hearing, Yar Guda, a diminutive content creator known for her comic roles alongside Mai Wushirya, reportedly told the court that she was willing to marry her co-actor.

Magistrate Wali consequently directed the Kano Hisbah Board to supervise and formalise the marriage arrangements within two months.

Reacting to the ruling, the Executive Secretary of the Kano State Film and Video Censorship Board, Abba El-Mustapha, urged members of the public to contribute financially to support the wedding preparations.

The development has stirred debate online, with some social media users describing the court’s intervention as excessive, while others viewed it as a moral corrective in line with Kano’s conservative social values.

Reports indicate that the marriage order was issued despite claims that Mai Wushirya had merely featured Yar Guda in his videos to attract more engagement on TikTok.
