Real Madrid has opened disciplinary proceedings against Federico Valverde and Aurelien Tchouameni after an altercation at the club’s training ground on Thursday morning.
Real Madrid said the action followed "incidents that occurred during the first team’s training session" and confirmed that further updates would be issued once internal procedures are complete.
"Real Madrid C. F. announces that, following the incidents that occurred this morning during the first team's training session, it has decided to open disciplinary proceedings against our players Federico Valverde and Aurélien Tchouameni.
"The club will provide updates on the resolutions of both proceedings once the corresponding internal procedures have been completed," it said.
The dispute is understood to have begun on Wednesday during training, before escalating in the dressing room on Thursday.

Reports said a strong tackle from Valverde on Tchouameni ignited the confrontation, which became physical after the session ended.
Valverde who fell and hit his head on a table during the incident was taken to hospital for tests, and has since returned home.
The club later confirmed he had been diagnosed with a "cranioencephalic traumatism" and will rest for 10 to 14 days under medical protocols.
Real Madrid said Valverde is "at home in good condition."
The injury means the 27-year-old will miss Sunday’s El Clasico against Barcelona, where the Catalan club could clinch the La Liga title if they avoid defeat.
Also, the timing of the incident, three days before the fixture, is reported to have displeased general manager Jose Angel Sanchez.
