Peter Obi Donates N25m to University in Anambra

Former presidential candidate, Peter Obi has donated twenty five million naira (N25m) to the University of the Niger (UNINIGER) in Umunya, Anambra State.

Obi revealed that the gesture was part of his ongoing support for education, healthcare and poverty reduction.

He made the announcement during a visit to the institution on Thursday, his annual trip to the university since it was established five years ago. 

His previous visit was to the university’s teaching hospital in Ogidi.

Speaking to students, he urged them to remain focused on their studies, saying that "the world today is driven by knowledge" and that "the future of Nigeria rests in the hands of young people like them."

He praised the Diocese on the Niger for its "foresight, vision and steadfast commitment" to educational development, and commended Vice Chancellor Prof Chinedu Nebo for his continued work in supporting schools and institutions across the country.

Obi reiterated his commitment to strengthening Nigeria’s education sector, stating that "no nation can rise beyond the strength of its education and human capital."
