Bayelsa Hosts Largest Business Summit

The Bayelsa State Government, on Thursday, hosted the Mega Entrepreneurship and Business Innovation Summit, an event described as the largest business gathering ever held in the state.

The summit, which took place at the Chief D.S.P. Alamieyeseigha Memorial Banquet Hall in Yenagoa, attracted a wide array of entrepreneurs, investors, and innovators from across Africa and beyond.

Representing Governor Douye Diri, the Secretary to the State Government, Prof Nimibofa Ayawei, reaffirmed the administration’s determination to create an enabling environment for entrepreneurship and innovation to flourish. 

Ayawei stated that the government’s ongoing investments in reliable power supply and road infrastructure across the three senatorial districts are aimed at stimulating industrialisation and business growth.

Among the keynote speakers was Mr Innocent Chukwuma, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Innoson Motors, represented by Kamsi Ejiofor, the company’s Corporate Innovation Manager. 

He underscored the need for creativity and adaptability in today’s fast-changing business world, urging participants to seize emerging opportunities to maximise their potential.

In a similar vein, Dr Cosmas Maduka, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Coscharis Group, spoke on the principles of building a lasting business legacy. 

Maduka explained the importance of vision, faith, planning, and perseverance, reminding entrepreneurs that wealth is built through value creation and meaningful relationships rather than shortcuts.

Bayelsa-born industrialist and CEO of Emily Group of Companies and Ayalla Hotels Limited, Chief Dr Ayalla Robert Enogha, also shared his experiences, disclosing persistence and determination as key ingredients for entrepreneurial success.

Convener of the summit and Technical Adviser to the Governor on Entrepreneurship Development, Mrs Charity Kens Godwin thanked attendees for their impressive turnout and collaborative spirit that defined the event.

She credited the programme’s success to divine inspiration and said it provided "a unique platform for Bayelsa entrepreneurs to connect, share ideas, and grow together."

Other notable speakers included His Royal Majesty (HRM) King Alfred Diete-Spiff, First Military Governor of old Rivers State and Amayanabo of Twon Brass; Prof Omoankhalen Joseph Akhigbe, a Professor of Management Entrepreneurship; and Prof Ify Harcourt Eokocha from the Federal University of Otuoke (FUO).
